Illinois State Senator Chris Lauzen (R-Aurora) has again sponsored SB 600, a bill that will restore direct, popular election of the Republican State Central Committee, so that the State Central Committees of the two major parties in Illinois would be chosen on the same statutory basis.

If this bill becomes law, every Republican voter would once again have the right to directly elect their representatives to the Illinois GOP's State Central Committee -- the GOP's senior governing board. Restoring a voice to every Illinois Republican will fundamentally change the way our Illinois Republican Party functions.
Illinois Democrats have always had the right to directly elect the members of their State Central Committee. Illinois Republicans deserve the same respect.
