IFI Update: Great News! Internet Filtering Bill Passes in the Illinois House; Moving on to the Senate
How did they vote?
Representatives in Springfield voted 63 to 51 (with one 'present' vote) to pass HB 1727, a bill that would require neighborhood public libraries to filter pornographic websites to protect our children and families.
For just about ten years now, even before coming to IFI, I have been working alongside other pro-family leaders in trying to get this common sense legislation passed in Illinois.
We made this bill IFI's top legislative priority this session, and, thanks to a strong lobbying effort and your prayers, calls, and emails to your state representatives, we have finally cleared this high hurdle. This is the first time that the Illinois House of Representatives passed this legislation. Thank you for taking action on this bill! You made a difference!

This bill, HB 1727, helps protect children from viewing obscene and illegal material over the Internet in neighborhood public libraries. Sexually graphic websites -- including child-pornography -- would no longer be able to flood your local public library. Internet filtering technology would help clean up communities and protect children and families from being exposed to these harmful and illegal materials in their neighborhood public library.
