"Gay Marriage" Fairy Tale Read to 2nd Graders in Mass.; Rev. Meeks Champions 'Protect Marriage Illinois' from Pulpit

6 Days Left for PMI Petitions! Yesterday we collected thousands of signatures from Rev. James Meeks' Salem Baptist Church, as Meeks enthusiastically championed the Protect Marriage Illinois cause. We need your help in this final week for gathering signatures. You have just 6 days left to get your Protect Marriage Illinois petitions in the mail! We have asked that they be put in the mail by April 30th, so that we will receive them in time to process the signatures and turn them into the state (they are due May 8). For motivation, please read this horrifying abuse of teaching "gay marriage" to innocent schoolchildren in Massachusetts below and do what you can to make one last push to get signatures!!
Dear IFI Readers: In our press release Sunday (see bottom of this email), I noted how "in Massachusetts, the legalization of 'gay marriage' has led to bolder efforts to teach homosexuality as a normal lifestyle in public schools--an agenda that is not supported by Illinois citizens."
Now my good friend and stellar pro-family advocate Brian Camenker of the Parents Rights Coalition and Article 8 Alliance in Massachusetts has unearthed another example showing how aggressive and arrogant--and dangerous--this pro-homosexual school agenda is.
If you are not a liberal activist, you will be shocked when you read this story, and click the links about the "gay"-promoting fairy tale book "King & King." Then contemplate how Illinois' radical new "sexual orientation" law, coupled with the judicial imposition of "gay marriage" as occurred in Massachusettts, would lead inevitably to the indoctrination of Illinois schoolchildren with pro-homosexuality messages.
And have you heard about the outrageous "gay curricula" bill in California that would lead to "transsexual, bisexual, and homosexual-inclusive" textbooks in that state? Click HERE for the details.
Do not be naive: Illinois homosexual activists see Massachusetts and California as "progressive" states that provide a road map for Illinois schools. Across our state, but especially near big cities, pro-homosexual school abuses are already occurring on a regular basis, and "gay" lobby groups such as Equality Illinois are just getting started.
This is just one reason why we need a state constitutional amendment protecting marriage in our state, as well as a federal marriage amendment. Please help us by making one final push for signatures to get the Protect Marriage Illinois referendum on the ballot in November. You have until April 30th to get your signatures in the mail. Thanks for standing up for marriage!

Brian Camenker of Article 8 Alliance in Massachusetts writes:
Homosexual movement continues its assault on children in schoolsPARENTS OUTRAGED: Second-grade teacher (in David Parker's school!) reads "modern fairy tale" to class on homosexual romance and marriage! [Parker is the Lexington father who was arrested and jailed after objecting to homosexual curriculum in his 6-year-old son's kindergarten class.]
Teacher tells parents that theme of day was "weddings" and that gay marriage is legal -- "I want to present all points of view." NO notice given!
Principal tells parents (1) they cannot opt out (2) there will be no parental notification despite state law and (3) "I will not guarantee that something like this won't happen again."
Pro-homosexual Superintendent and School Board Chairman tell TV reporters they agree with decision.
Teacher attended GLSEN [Gay, Lesbian, Straight Education Network] presentation promoting homosexuality in classroom. David Parker makes statement. To our readers: THIS IS YOUR FUTURE, UNLESS YOU GET INVOLVED NOW!
LEXINGTON, Massachusetss--APRIL 19. Lexington public school officials have told Rob and Robin Wirthlin that since "gay marriage is legal" they may describe homosexual relationships to their son in second grade, without notice, and that parents may not opt their child out of such discussions. The Wirthlins are livid.
Yes, this is the same town -- and even the same school -- that embroiled itself in the David Parker incident last year, over pushing homosexuality onto young children without parental knowledge or consent. And now, the envelope is being pushed even further.
Son comes home with bizarre story On March 24, their second-grade son came home from the Estabrook Elementary School and repeated to his mother the story read to him earlier that day about men getting married to each other. His teacher had read the book "King and King" to the class, in which a prince doesn't want to marry any princesses, but instead falls in love with a princess's brother and marries him in a big palace wedding. Mrs. Wirthlin remembers that it was so startling to her son that he described details of the book such as that "the queen even shed a tear." It obviously made an impression on him.
This is a children's book about homosexual romantic love and "marriage." Its purpose is to normalize homosexuality in the mind of a child, using the vehicle of a children's fairy tale. It was brought into the classroom by the teacher for that reason, and read to the kids for that reason.
Click HERE to see pages from the book "King and King." Take a look at this. Who would write a book like this for young children? What kind of person would read it to them? What kind of people are we employing in our schools??
Mrs. Wirthlin also remembers that her son repeated "Isn't that silly. . .isn't that so silly. . .isn't it funny?" that afternoon when he came home. He obviously knew that such an idea was unnatural and abnormal, even though the teacher wanted her class to believe otherwise.
The Wirthlins immediately contacted the teacher, Heather Kramer. Kramer acknowledged she had read the book to the class, and admitted that it was not part of the curriculum. At first, she claimed that it was the kids who insisted that she read the book to them, after she had put it out in the classroom for them to see. (However, as Mrs. Wirthlin pointed out to us, that's an absurd excuse. In a second-grade classroom the teacher is supposed to be the adult, not another child. But in their subsequent meeting, it became clear that the teacher had intended to read it.)

Outrage spreads across country over gay "marriage" book read to 2nd grade in Lexington
In case you missed it, here's our report from this past week (Including a further link to the book). People still can't believe this. Click THIS LINK link to see what's in store for Illinois if activists and elites succeed by follow Massachusetts lead and imposing counterfeit homosexual "marriage" on our state:
Since MassResistance broke this story on Wednesday, the fallout from this horrific thing continues to reverberate across the state -- and across the country. Besides probably every Boston area TV and radio station, this was covered on several national radio networks. We're told it was on local TV in Los Angeles, CNN, and in the Denver Post. We were on radio in places like Detroit and Orlando. National Public Radio called us for an interview.
Here's a sampling:
Boston Globe article. Here's the news report in Thursday's Boston Globe. It's a pretty thorough, with the superintendent purposefully misintrepreting the notification law.
Boston WHDH TV Channel 7 News Report. (Interesting - anchor Randy Price is a regular participant in the Boston Gay Pride parade.) [Note from Peter LaBarbera: the most stunning thing about this broadcast is to watch the liberal school committee chair defend the reading of "King & King" to 2nd graders in the name of diversity. Arrogant liberals are destroying the innocence of our children.]

IFI's LaBarbera Praises Rev. Meeks for Holding Petition Drive for 'Protect Marriage Illinois' at Salem Baptist Church
Contact: IFI: 630-790-8370
CHICAGO, Ill.-Peter LaBarbera, Executive Director of Illinois Family Institute, today praised Rev. and State Sen. James T. Meeks for holding a petition drive at Salem Baptist Church in support of Protect Marriage Illinois' (PMI) campaign to place a referendum on the ballot in November calling on the General Assembly to constitutionally preserve marriage as between one man and one woman.
Rev. Meeks has been a strong supporter of the PMI initiative and thousands of Salem Baptist Church's congregants will likely sign the petition during the service this morning. About 2,000 churches across the state have held similar petition drives in support of the Protect Marriage Illinois campaign.
"We are grateful for Sen. Meeks' strong commitment to protecting the sacred institution of marriage, and gratified in general at the tremendous support that the Protect Marriage Illinois referendum drive has received in the African-American community," LaBarbera said. "Rev. Meeks is showing moral leadership, of the sort that is sorely lacking in our state.
"The PMI effort has united Christians and people of all backgrounds, denominations and ethnicities-who are working together for the common cause of permanently protecting marriage from being radically redefined," he said. "In Massachusetts, the legalization of 'gay marriage' has led to bolder efforts to teach homosexuality as a normal lifestyle in public schools-an agenda that is not supported by Illinois citizens."
Illinois Family Institute is working closely with Elder Johnny Tyler's Chicago-based African-American Family Association (AAFA) to gather signatures for the Protect Marriage Illinois campaign.
"We have been excited at how the African-American community has responded to Protect Marriage Illinois," said Naomi Attaway of the AAFA. "The vast majority of African-Americans have been eager to sign the petition, and clearly understand the threat of 'gay marriage.'"
Attaway said that most African Americans also resent the attempt by homosexual activists to equate the "same-sex marriage" cause with the traditional civil rights movement.
