Homosexuality / "Gay Marriage"

A Swan Song for Gay Marriage?
12/5/2009 7:00:00 AM
By Staff -Christian Civic League of Maine

A document for strategists within the Democrat Party shows that Maine's Yes on 1 victory may have dealt a final and fatal blow to the homosexual marriage movement. The document, entitled "Zero for Thirty-One: Lessons from the Loss in Maine" outlines a last-ditch strategy for winning homosexual marriage at the polls. The plan consists of two actions, both of which are totally unfeasible. Namely, the homosexual rights lobby plans to ask people to 1) not vote, and 2) change their views on deeply-held religious principles.

The author, Jasmine Beach-Ferrara, admits that the losses in other states involved political miscalculations or a lack of funds, but in Maine, the author writes, homosexual marriage enjoyed every advantage and still lost. The strategy for the next election, the author concludes, is to target crucial swing voters who may be inclined to vote against same sex marriage.

Gay Activists Mull Organized Terrorism Against Christians
11/24/2009 6:56:00 PM

In the wake of the horrific act of Islamic domestic terrorism at Fort Hood Texas, it has been learned that militant homosexual activists recently made similar online postings to those of Nidal Malik Hasan, threatening additional acts of terrorism against Christians.

In response to Maine's natural marriage victory last Tuesday, gay activists have directly threatened to retaliate with terrorism and the killing of Christians on the popular homosexual activist JoeMyGod Weblog. Liberty Counsel notified the FBI which is investigating the matter. (Captured version of post will be available at www.americansfortruth.com).

Matt Barber, Liberty Counsels Director of Cultural Affairs, issued a statement shortly after Maine's marriage victory (posted with additional commentary at www.americansfortruth.com). In reaction to that statement, blog poster ColdCountry wrote: "Will someone please give me a gun?"

Aggression in the Campaign to Destroy Marriage
11/9/2009 4:38:00 PM
By Laurie Higgins, DSA Director -Illinois Family Institute

Those of us who have occasion to visit the blogs of homosexual activists are fully aware of the poisonous vitriol posted in the comments section against anyone who dares to challenge their increasingly aggressive dogma regarding the nature and morality of homosexuality.

It is commonplace to read epithetic language, profane language, obscene language, and threats of violence. Their targets include but are not limited to Tony Perkins, James Dobson, Maggie Gallagher, Robert George, Robert Gagnon, Sandy Rios, Peter LaBarbera, Matt Barber, Linda Harvey, and me. We also receive obscene and threatening emails and voicemails.

Many of those who comment on homosexual blogs will ridicule, bully, and threaten virtually anyone who dares to suggest that homosexuality is not ontologically equivalent to race; that disapproval of volitional homosexual acts is not equivalent to racism; or that society ought not legalize same sex unions. Make these claims publicly and be prepared to be verbally eviscerated--all in the name of tolerance, of course.

On Monday, following the Maine referendum that preserved marriage in Maine against yet another assault, Liberty Counsel issued the following press release which exposes the nefarious underbelly of the homosexual activist movement--the side that the media apparently deems non-newsworthy:

PepsiCo Raises Ante Once Again
10/27/2009 7:00:00 PM -American Family Association

Corporate officers drive pro-gay policies on smaller companies

PepsiCo isn't content with pushing homosexuality inside its own company. It feels compelled to use corporate leaders in pressing other companies to accept it as well.

In the October 2009 Out and Equal Workplace conference, PepsiCo's vice-president and CIO led a seminar to teach employees in the art of "leveraging strong sponsor or leader relationships" within companies to embrace homosexuality. The seminar was entitled "Use 'em or lose 'em."

At the same event, a manager of PepsiCo's corporate Contributions and Foundation department served as a judge in the Out & Equal's "Outie Awards." The awards are given in celebration and recognition to companies and employees who advance homosexual causes in the workplace.

Elaine Donnelly: Gays Leaving Military Not Security Issue
10/19/2009 10:00:00 PM
By Elaine Donnelly -NewsMax.com

On Saturday evening President Barack Obama delivered a speech suggesting that he needs to impose the gay agenda on the military for reasons of national security. That was quite a performance-but no one should be fooled.

Gay activist groups keep focusing on almost 13,000 discharges that have occurred over a period of 15 years, due to the 1993 law stating that homosexuals are not eligible to serve. But under closer examination, the notion that these personnel losses have nearly crippled the All-Volunteer Force simply falls apart.

Newly released Defense Department figures documenting military discharges in the past five years confirm the pattern evident in the previous decade: discharges due to homosexuality affect a minuscule number of troops, and represent less than one percent of personnel losses that occur for other legitimate reasons.

Pres. Obama's Address to Gay Activists
10/13/2009 7:20:00 AM
By Laurie Higgins, DSA Director -Illinois Family Institute

On Saturday night, President Barack Obama delivered his sycophantic, pro-homosexual magnum opus to the nation's largest homosexual and "transgender" lobbying organization: the Human Rights Campaign (HRC). Obama promised attendees a veritable smorgasbord of legislation that will further their anarchical social agenda, while undermining speech rights, parental rights, and religious liberty.
  • He declared that he is "committed" to ending the "Don't Ask, Don't Tell" policy that prevents open homosexuals from serving in the military.

  • He promised to pass a "hate" crimes bill which would allow government intrusion into the thoughts and beliefs of citizens and criminalize beliefs that offend homosexuals.

Ben & Jerry's Ice Cream Honors Same-Sex 'Marriage'
    9/2/2009 4:10:00 PM
    By Charlie Butts -OneNewsNow

An ice cream company is celebrating homosexual "marriage" in Vermont (see related article).

Ben and Jerry's Hubby Hubby Same-gender marriage is now legal in The Green Mountain State, and Ben & Jerry's has announced that it will temporarily change its "Chubby Hubby" ice cream to "Hubby Hubby" in honor of homosexual "marriage." Peter LaBarbera of Americans for Truth about Homosexuality tells OneNewsNow that companies like Ben & Jerry's neglect to talk about the dangers of the lifestyle.

"Besides the health aspects, there's also the fact that homosexual behavior is opposed by God, and that's something that we should take seriously," he contends. "All homosexual behavior is sinful, and regardless of what liberals say or what Ben & Jerry's puts on a tub of ice cream, that remains the case."

Are Christians Responsible for Anti-Homosexual Bloodbath in Tel Aviv?
    8/3/2009 2:17:00 PM
By Laurie Higgins, Director of IFI's DSA -Illinois Family Institute

Yet another tragic, horrific, and utterly unjustifiable murder of homosexuals has taken place, this time in Tel Aviv, Israel at a youth center for homosexual teens. Saturday night, two were killed and thirteen wounded when a gunman opened fire in a club where homosexual teens meet. The unspeakable carnage exposes how very dark the mind of fallen humans can become.

And this recent mind-numbing crime provides yet another occasion for homosexual activists and those who support their social and political goals to lay an unbiblical, unchristian, indefensible crime at the feet of all Christians who hold biblical views on the nature and morality of homosexuality and who deplore murder.

Mourning for those young people whose lives were violently taken had not even begun before attacks on Christians could be found in the comments section of homosexual blogs. For example, last night one blog comment read, "The extremist religious people in our society, especially those like [National Organization for Marriage] and other anti-gay religious organizations (Pat Robertson, et al) are the cause of this kind of violence against the GLBT community. Members of these organizations spew their hatred on television and in their churches, and the weak-minded grab hold of their hateful words and act on them."

Higgins Responds to Wayne Besen's Screed against Dr. Michael Brown
    7/30/2009 3:29:00 PM
By Laurie Higgins -Americans for Truth

Imagine if this Scenario Were Reversed: One might suppose that homosexual militant Wayne Besen would be the last fellow to question the idea that "gay" activism threatens religious freedom in America. At right, Besen is photographed harassing a Boston church hosting an ex-"gay" conference - by yelling through a bullhorn into the window of the church during the conference. (Click HERE for MassResistance's full story on the homosexual protest, and HERE for a report on a much larger and more violent pro-homosexual protest against another Boston church in 2005.) What if a bunch of Christian activists terrorized a meeting at a homosexual church in a similar manner? We suspect that Besen and fellow "gay" advocates might accuse them of using fascist tactics, and rightly so. Go HERE to read Besen's hate-filled screed against Christian activist Michael Brown and his "God Has a Better Way" Gospel outreach at the Charlotte, NC "gay pride" festival.

Homosexual activist Wayne Besen of the oddly named Truth Wins Out described Dr. Michael Brown's group of evangelists (the "God Has a Better Way" campaign responding to the Charlotte, N.C. "gay pride" parade) as "uninvited locusts" descending on Charlotte.

A Model Christian Response to 'Gay' Pride: 'God Has a Better Way' in Charlotte
    7/30/2009 3:00:00 PM
By Peter J. LaBarbera -Americans for Truth

    Dear Readers,

I commend to you my friend Dr. Michael Brown's and the Coalition of Conscience's response to the "gay pride" movement in Charlotte, N.C. In a speech last week to Reclaiming Oklahoma for Christ, I said that the appropriate Christian response to homosexual/"trans" activism and homosexual strugglers is a tightrope walk - balancing a witness for truth on the one side and the gracious love of Christ for sinners on the other. I too often fall off that tightrope, but Michael hangs on it as well as any pro-family leader I have observed in the last 20 years. (My only cautionary note is Brown's use of the term "homophobia" [see this excellent NARTH analysis] - an artificial construct that is now so elastically defined that almost any rejection of homosexualist goals (including same-sex "marriage") can be and is deemed "homophobic" by "gay" activists and the liberal media. That said, his point it correct: it is wrong to fear and hate men and women trapped in homosexuality - people who need God's love and grace.)

    Homosexual Activists: Obtuse or Dishonest?
    7/29/2009 7:15:00 AM
By Laurie Higgins, Director of IFI's DSA -Illinois Family Institute

Anyone who dares to suggest that homosexual behavior is immoral, or that public schools have no business affirming homosexuality in or to children, or that the church has a positive obligation to oppose the use of public funds to affirm homosexuality needs to be prepared for the hostile and deceitful responses from those who hold unproven, radical, and destructive theories on the nature and morality of homosexuality.

Homosexual activists really didn't like my article from last week about the relative silence of the church on the topic of homosexuality. A number of them have made the fallacious claim that I compared homosexuals to Nazis. Once again, homosexual activists reveal either that they are unable to follow the logic of an argument or that they care little about truth. Those who made the false claim that I said homosexuals are the moral equivalents of Nazis are either obtuse or dishonest.

    PepsiCo Sponsors National Gay Workshop
    7/24/2009 10:51:00 AM
By Donald E. Wildmon, Founder and Chairman -American Family Association

PepsiCo has given thousands of dollars to become a sponsor of the homosexual "Out & Equal Workplace Summit" scheduled for Oct. 6-9 at Disney's Coronado Springs Resort in Florida.

The Out & Equal Workshop meetings are designed to show corporate leaders how they can promote the homosexual agenda in their corporation.

In becoming a sponsor of the Out & Equal conference PepsiCo has once again refused to give any support to those who are hurting and want to come out of this destructive and aberrant lifestyle.

In fact, homosexual activists continually tell corporate leaders (including PepsiCo) that it is impossible for an individual to leave the gay lifestyle. By helping fund the meeting, PepsiCo has decided to support that premise. PepsiCo gives thousands of dollars to promote homosexuality, but not one penny to help those who want out.

    2009 Chicago Gay Pride Participants
    7/9/2009 6:46:00 AM
By David E. Smith, Executive Director -Illinois Family Institute

Chicago parades include the famous St. Patrick's Day Parade in March, where the Chicago River is tinted green in honor of the Irish. The Polish American Constitution Day Parade, held May 1st, celebrates the first European democratic Constitution established in Poland in 1791. The Bud Billiken parade on the City's southside is the City's largest "back to school" celebration. The Columbus Day Parade, held in Autumn, is another ethnic celebration featuring the contributions of Italian Americans. Thousands of Chicagoans participate in these parades and support the causes they represent.

However, never within the celebration of these events would you find the flagrant and offensive violations of the Public Morals Laws of conduct as you do in what has become known as the annual Chicago Gay Pride Parade, which was held this year on Sunday, June 28th.

This lack of enforcement, it could be argued, amounts to special protection for this group of citizens who are able to flaunt decency laws with impunity. (Doesn't our U.S. Constitution require "equal protection" under the law?)

Chastity Bono, Transsexuality and the Church

By Laurie Higgins, Director of IFI's DSA -Illinois Family Institute

Chastity Bono's publicist announced that Chastity is pursuing a "sex change." Chastity, as everyone knows, is the only daughter of Cher and the deceased Sonny Bono. Many years ago, Chastity made the decision to embrace homosexuality, and as of March, she has begun the process of "changing sexes."*

Of course, rational people realize that changing one's name, cross-dressing, ingesting hormones naturally produced by the opposite sex, and electively amputating healthy parts of one's sexual anatomy don't really change one's biological sex. The emperor was really wearing no clothes, and Chastity, who has assumed the moniker "Chaz," will always really be a woman.

    The Truth About Homosexual Parenting

By Laurie Higgins, Director of IFI's DSA -Illinois Family Institute

Mark Twain is reported to have said "A lie can travel half way around the world while the truth is just putting on its shoes." Never were there words more applicable to the pro-homosexual movement than these.

In 2001, Time Magazine trumpeted there was "New Evidence of a Gay Gene." The completely false notion that a gay gene has been discovered is so prevalent that many believe it is indisputable fact. And pro-homosexual organizations have seen no need to disabuse the public of that error.

The mainstream media, with little apparent commitment to truth, have widely publicized the fallacious notion that homosexuality is biologically determined, and the American Psychiatric Association (APA) has long promoted that view.

Gay Lobbyists More Determined Than Ever To Pass "Civil Unions"
    5/21/2009 4:34:00 PM
By Kathy Valente, Policy Analyst -Illinois Family Institute

Rick Garcia, gay lobbyist for Equality Illinois, said yesterday that he "absolutely" foresees both the House and Senate passing HB 2234, the civil union bill, as early as next Tuesday or Wednesday. It's no secret that Governor Pat Quinn supports the bill and is likely to sign it into law.

If Garcia is right, Illinois will soon bestow its blessing upon homosexual couples, extending to them the same benefits as marriage, only under a different name.

According to CapitolFaxBlog.com, "Equality Illinois has nine lobbyists working as either full-time staffers or contractors to encourage lawmakers to vote in favor of civil unions. Other groups assisting in passing the measure include the American Civil Liberties Union, the AIDS Foundation of Chicago and the Service Employees International Union..." (Emphasis added.)

    Are Traditional Marriage Supporters Losing?
    5/17/2009 9:46:00 PM
By Laurie Higgins, Director of IFI's DSA -Illinois Family Institute

[A version of this article first appeared on the website Opposing Views on May 14, 2009]

With the recent victories for proponents of "same-sex marriage,"--an oxymoronic misnomer if ever there was one--the question has arisen regarding whether traditional marriage supporters are fighting a losing battle. Although the question is perhaps an interesting topic for dorm debates, blog battles, and pundits, it's ultimately of little interest to me in that cultural momentum or majority voices often have no relevance to truth and therefore no relevance to my actions.

I'm neither a prophet nor a prognosticator. I have no idea if these recent losses for marriage and truth will lead to more losses. And I'm not sure which cultural force serves the pernicious goal of legitimizing homosexuality more effectively: activist courts; the mainstream media; pro-homosexual activist organizations with coffers full of money; public education; acquiescent churches; or the cowardice of people of faith.

    Correction

By Kathy Valente, Policy Analyst -Illinois Family Institute

In the article entitled "Hate Crimes Bill Moves to Senate" (5/5/09), we mistakenly stated that the American Psychiatric Association's actual definition of "sexual orientation" includes paraphilias. The APA's Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (DSM-IV) classifies "sexual orientation" as heterosexual, homosexual, and bi-sexual. The 547 mental disorders called "paraphilias" specifically involve non-human objects, physical pain, or unwilling partners as in pedophilia. IFI apologizes for the error.

IFI remains strongly opposed to this "Hate Crimes" legislation. S. 909 is dangerous, unconstitutional and a threat to our freedoms.

    S. 909 is unconstitutional, as it violates the Fourteenth Amendment which guarantees "equal protection of the laws," not special protection for some.

Moreover, "hate crimes" legislation lays the legal foundation and framework for investigating, prosecuting and persecuting pastors, business owners, and anyone else whose actions reflect their faith.

Illinois' U.S. Senators Dick Durbin, Roland Burris along with 39 other senators have co-sponsored S. 909.

    "Hate Crimes" Legislation

By by Laurie Higgins, Director of IFI's DSA -Illinois Family Institute

An IFI article entitled "Hate Crimes Bill Moves to Senate" (5/5/09) contained the erroneous statement that the APA's category "sexual orientation" includes paraphilias. The Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (DSM-IV) distinguishes between "sexual orientation" (i.e. heterosexual, homosexual, and bisexual) and "paraphilias" which involve non-human objects, physical pain, or unwilling partners. IFI apologizes for the error.

IFI remains deeply troubled, however, by the statement made by U.S. Representative Alcee Hastings (D-FL) who suggested that "'philias and fetishes and 'isms'" should be and would be protected by the Hate Crimes Bill.

IFI remains strongly opposed to this legislation in that it erroneously presumes without evidence that homosexuality and cross-dressing are ontological categories similar to race and biological sex. It violates the Fourteenth Amendment which guarantees "equal protection of the laws." It enhances punishment for crimes based on the thoughts or feelings of the perpetrator. And it provides financial incentives to state and local law enforcement agencies to find criminals guilty of "hate" in order to access federal resources.

Civil Unions: The Slippery Slope to Polygamy
    4/30/2009 11:50:00 AM
By Laurie Higgins, Director of IFI's DSA -Illinois Family Institute

[Editor's Note: Homosexual activists with Equality Illinois, Stonewall Democrats, Illinois Log Cabin Republicans, and the ACLU of Illinois held a lobby day at the Capitol on April 29th to push for the passage of "civil unions" legislation -- HB 2234.]

The move to legalize civil unions is just a sham move to inch society closer to redefining marriage. One writer calls the term "civil unions" an "insipid euphemism" for marriage; I call it an insidious euphemism.

No homosexual activist worth his salt intends to settle for the "compromise" of civil unions. Their short-term goal is to get us ignorant, hate-filled bumpkins to legalize civil unions and then wait a year or two.

Wait for the entertainment industry to propagate enough titillating images of homosexuality and enough disdainful images of conservatives to transform the moral convictions of the unthinking masses.

When Will the Southern Poverty Law Center Stop Bullying?
    4/7/2009 7:39:00 AM
By Laurie Higgins, Director of IFI's DSA -Illinois Family Institute

Following our expose of the reason for the Southern Poverty Law Center's (SPLC) dubious and defamatory inclusion of the Illinois Family Institute (IFI) on their "anti-gay hate groups" list, the SPLC started receiving complaints, which evidently didn't sit too well with them. As a result of those complaints, the editor of their ironically named "Intelligence Report," Mark Potok, started leaving troubling voice messages around the country for those who called to complain.

Here's a transcription of one of those messages:
Yes, Hi, this is a message for . . . from Mark Potok, Southern Poverty Law Center. Very briefly, I just wanna say very briefly - we do list them (Illinois Family Institute) for a reason, which we've stated publicly. They (IFI) have been less, in my opinion, than honest about what we really said. They publish and promote the work of a man named Paul Cameron. Paul Cameron is a guy who is infamous for over the last 20 years for producing, for publishing fake studies that allege all kinds of terrible things about homosexuals. For instance, that gay men are, something like, 20 times more likely to molest children; that gay men have an average death age of something like 43 because they're so sickly and, ya know, sorta do such terrible things. These things are completely false and have been proven false long ago. Our view is that the Illinois Family Institute promotes these complete falsehoods. Then that is hateful activity. We never list any group on the basis of simply disagreeing morally or otherwise with homosexuality. We told the Illinois Family Institute directly that if they remove this material from their website, in fact, that we would take them off the list. Instead, what they've done is essentially launched an attack on us to try to get people to call us as you did. Anyway, that's all. I just wanted to at least briefly explain that it was not quite the way it was being portrayed.

    Another Unbelievable Decision
    4/4/2009 7:32:00 PM
By David E. Smith, Executive Director -Illinois Family Institute

Last Friday morning, the Iowa Supreme Court issued an astonishing decision, ruling unanimously that the state law declaring natural marriage -- the union of one man and one woman --unconstitutional. Once again, arrogant judges have usurped the will of the people to impose homosexual "marriage" on its citizens.

Amazingly, the Court held that natural marriage is solely a religious construct (despite the fact that governments around the world have recognized and upheld the institution for thousands of years), and went on to say "State government can have no religious view, either directly or indirectly, expressed through its legislation." Unbelievable. Every law reflects morality. The vast majority of laws in United States reflect a Judeo-Christian ethic. Shall they all be struck down too? Moreover, many supporters of legalized homosexual "marriage" attend churches that support such a position. What about that religious view? According to the Iowa Supreme Court then, legalized homosexual marriage reflects a "religious construct" which must not be, "either directly or indirectly, expressed through its legislation.

Peter is the President of Americans for Truth About Homosexuality, an organization dedicated to exposing the homosexual activist agenda.

He did a fantastic job! (Listen to it online or download it HERE.)

Ironically, some in the group chanted "love thy neighbor" while one of their compatriots carried a sign that said "LaBarbera is Satan's lover." (See the photos on the right.)

Homosexual Activists File Suit, Challenge DOMA
    3/11/2009 2:22:00 PM
    By Charlie Butts -OneNewsNow

Homosexual activists recently filed suit against the federal Defense of Marriage Act, or DOMA.

The lawsuit -- filed in Boston by the group Gay & Lesbian Advocates & Defenders (GLAD) on behalf of several homosexual "couples" and three individuals -- asks a federal judge to declare unconstitutional portions of the measure which places the traditional view of marriage into law. In the suit, GLAD argues that Section 3 of DOMA "creates a system of first- and second-class marriages" in which the former receive all federal legal protections, while the latter are denied them -- "even while taking on the responsibilities of legal marriage."

Despite that argument, Alliance Defense FundAlliance Defense Fund attorney Brian Raum says the legal challenge is really not about benefits.

Homosexual Activists File Suit to Overturn DOMA
    3/5/2009 7:38:00 AM
By David E. Smith, Executive Director -Illinois Family Institute

Earlier this week, over a dozen homosexual partners with Massachusetts marriage licenses filed a federal lawsuit to overturn portions of the Defense of Marriage Act (DOMA). While DOMA was signed in 1996 by President Bill Clinton and overwhelmingly supported by the Congress, President Barack Obama, has pledged to work for its repeal. Yet Obama's Attorney General, Eric Holder, will be the one called upon to defend DOMA. This lawsuit also has the support of Sen. John Kerry (D-MA) and Massachusetts Attorney General Martha Coakley.

The group of homosexual activists claim that the law discriminates against homosexual partners and is unconstitutional because it denies them access to federal benefits that other married couples receive. The lawsuit was filed in the Federal District Court of Massachusetts in Boston by Gay & Lesbians Advocates and Defenders (GLAD), the same group that brought about the successful Goodridge case that forced homosexual marriage on Massachusetts.

Homosexual Activist is Gunning for a West Virginia Marriage Initiative

Wayne Besen, former spokesman for the subversive homosexual activist Human Rights Campaign and founder of the homosexual hate organization, Truth Wins Out, apparently can't make a distinction between a domestic terrorist threat and-a metaphor.

Besen has a West Virginia marriage initiative in his sights. He sees in this utterly benign video by The Family Policy Council of West Virginia a nefarious sniper threat. Please watch the video that has so terrorized Besen and that is more like an episode of The Waltons than 24:

His claim is both idiotic and comical. In one frame of this video, we see the nuclear family through the sight of a gun, which is a commonplace metaphor that means that someone or something is taking aim at or opposing something. Is Besen actually claiming that society should prohibit the use of this metaphor? And will society tolerate this kind of intrusive censorship?

Does anyone stop and think about why the government is involved in marriage at all? Some clarity on this issue may prevent the culture-destroying institutionalization of same-sex civil unions and their inevitable successor same-sex marriage-well, both clarity and courage will be necessary.

The government has one concern with marriage. The government seeks to support that institution that best serves the needs of the state. Our government, which reflects the collective wisdom and will of its citizenry, has rightly determined that the institution that best serves the needs of a healthy society is that which best serves the needs of children who are essential to the future success of any nation. And what best serves the needs of children is to be raised, when possible, by their biological parents.

    Georgia Log Cabin Republicans
    2/19/2009 8:19:00 PM
By Laurie Higgins, Director of IFI's DSA -Illinois Family Institute

An un-righteously indignant James Ensley, President of Georgia Log Cabin Republicans, has sent a vitriolic tirade against Peter LaBarbera of Americans for Truth to the new chairman of the Republican National Committee, Michael Steele. For those unfamiliar with Log Cabin Republicans, they are a homosexual political action group that is committed to subverting the Republican Party position on issues pertaining to "gay rights."

Once again, the hypocrisy of the claims of homosexual groups' commitments to tolerance is laid bare in all its ugliness in Mr. Ensley's letter. He has charged Mr. LaBarbera and anyone else who shares the orthodox Christian, mainstream, historical view of homosexual behavior as immoral with being bigoted, anti-American, anti-Christian, fringe, radical, extremist domestic terrorists who shouldn't have a voice in the Republican Party.

    How Gay Activists Hijacked Marriage
    2/16/2009 5:13:00 PM
By Michael Deprimo - AFA Journal -OneNewsNow.com

October 10, 2008, was a crisp, sunny day in San Francisco. Shirley Holcomb and other women from the Evangelical Church had gathered at noon for Bible study. The passage they contemplated that day was the parable of the 10 virgins. As she read silently, Shirley could not imagine how the foolish virgins could have slept as the wedding day approached. Shirley shook her head and sighed. This never would have happened on my watch, she thought. In closing, the women bowed their heads in prayer. As they had been doing every Friday for years, Shirley and her Christian friends prayed that the spiritual darkness draped over San Francisco like a heavy woolen blanket would be lifted. A half-hour later Shirley departed, confident God would soon answer her prayer.

The Myth of Homosexual "Marital" Stability
    2/4/2009 9:59:00 AM
By David E. Smith, Executive Director -Illinois Family Institute

The lesbian partners who brought the lawsuit that led to the 2003 judicial mandate for homosexual "marriage" in Massachusetts have filed for divorce after separating in 2006. Julie and Hillary Goodridge may want out of their their failed social experiment, but their ill-advised activism continues to taint the God-ordained institution of natural marriage.

The research on the instability of homosexual relationships is fairly well known and easy to find. For quite some time domestic violence has been recognized and acknowledged as a serious problem among homosexuals with rates twice as high as that of heterosexual couples. The serial nature of multiple short-term relationships, or the lack of monogamy among many homosexuals has also been documented by a variety of sources. Homosexual activists will often claim that these problems would decline and mirror the heterosexual population if only they were granted the stabilizing benefits of legal marriage.

In the Jan. 28, 2009 edition of the Chicago Tribune, there is a story about two sexual amputees who are suing the state over its refusal to change the "gender" designation on their birth certificates from "male" to "female." Several important points must be made.

First, it's utterly reprehensible that anyone in the medical community would be complicit in facilitating a psychological disorder by amputating healthy body parts. There is a condition known as either apotemnophilia or Body Integrity Identity Disorder (B.I.I.D.) that is characterized by the desire to amputate a healthy limb. It is useful for comparison in that it is thought by many to be closely related to Gender Identity Disorder (i.e. transsexualism) which society is increasingly accepting as a valid identity that emerges from biological influences and whose behavioral manifestations are morally legitimate. Apotemnophiles, as they are referred to in some circles, identify with amputees and seek to align their bodies with their psychological identities through amputation of healthy body parts. Dr. Anne Lawrence explains the condition:

Obama's Choice of Homosexual Bishop Gene Robinson to Pray at Inaugural Event is a Slap in the Face to Christians
    1/12/2009 11:58:00 PM -ChristianNewswire.com

Peter LaBarbera, President of Americans For Truth about Homosexuality (AFTAH), issued the following statement regarding President- elect Barack Obama's selection of V. (Vicki) Gene Robinson, the openly homosexual Episcopal bishop of New Hampshire, to deliver the invocation at an official inaugural event Sunday:

"President-elect Obama has signaled a tragic departure from America's godly, Judeo-Christian heritage with his choice of a defiant homosexual activist, (Vicki) Gene Robinson, to recite a prayer at an official Inaugural event Sunday. Choosing Robinson -- who supports homosexual 'marriage' and compares his agenda to mainstream sinful and changeable homosexual behavior to the noble Black civil rights struggle -- is a sop to 'gay' activists who blasted Obama for picking evangelical pastor Rick Warren to say an Inauguration Day prayer.

The Sheepskin's Off – Gays Want to Redefine Natural Marriage -- No "Civil Unions" Compromise!
    1/8/2009 7:10:00 AM
By Kathy Valente, IFI Policy Analyst -Illinois Family Institute

On November 4th, the country was witness to three more states not willing to redefine marriage, in spite of multi-millions spent by the homosexual community. This brings the total to thirty out of thirty. Do the math. One hundred percent of states who brought the question to the people want Judeo-Christian marriage to remain as the standard.

Yet some Illinois elected officials still don't get it. Many are beholden to the "gay" community for the money that's been poured into their campaign war chests.

That's why pressure needs to be applied.

Perhaps many of Illinois Family Institute's readers remain blissfully unaware of the nature and extent of the antipathy that many homosexuals feel toward Christians who hold traditional views on sexuality, and of the truly radical socio-political transformation they seek.

Many Christians also remain blissfully-and perhaps deliberately-unaware of the threats posed to our fundamental speech and religious rights; to the natural family; and to parental rights posed by widespread approval of homosexuality and the passage of laws and policies that affirm and support homosexuality.

Those of us who are all too familiar with the values, sentiments, goals, and specious arguments of homosexualists (i.e. homosexuals and their supporters), keep asking ourselves these questions:

Book Review of Desire and Deceit: The Real Cost of the New Sexual Tolerance
    12/8/2008 4:00:00 PM
    By Sandra Alexander -Intellectual Conservative

"Alfred C. Kinsey was a crypto-reformer who spent his every waking hour attempting to change the sexual mores and sex offender laws of the United States. Depending upon a 'Mr. X', a man who had molested hundreds of boys ranging from infants to adolescents, Kinsey attempted to prove that "children are sexual beings who should be understood to have and to deserve sexual experiences."
In the preface to his book Desire and Deceit, Dr. R. Albert Mohler Jr. writes that "the Christian worldview reveals that sex, gender, and sexuality are ultimately all about the creature's purpose to glorify the Creator. " He contrasts this with the postmodern secular world's view that "sexuality is the means of liberating the self from cultural oppression." In a day and age where we are constantly bombarded with sexual images, and sexual license and perversion have become normative, we ask the question, "What has the self truly been liberated from?"

Have the sexual promiscuity, the cultural acceptance of homosexuality, the demanding of "rights" rather than the observance of "right and wrong", the obsession with self-gratification brought us more happiness, more stability, more true freedom than when biblical morals and standards were the norm rather than the exception?

    Homosexual Tyrants Protest Democracy

By David E. Smith, Executive Director -Illinois Family Institute

Nationwide protests took place on November 15 in 175 cities around the nation, including Chicago, Peoria and Springfield, to protest the decision by California voters to re-establish what four judges struck down -- a legal (and historical) definition of natural marriage.

When the California Supreme Court overturned the people's will a few months ago, pro-family advocates didn't hold hostile protests across the country. They took their case back to polling places so that "we the people" could amend the California state constitution and make the people's will crystal clear-again.

But radical liberal activists have contempt for the democratic process. They would rather quash individual liberties by mandating special group rights.

Marriage Wins in Three More States
    11/6/2008 6:30:00 AM
By David E. Smith, Executive Director -Illinois Family Institute

While the dominant media celebrated the election of Barack Obama and the supposed "change" that would be coming to the White House, one important institution in America was reaffirmed -- the definition of marriage.

The most important victory was in California, where voters approved Proposition 8, taking back the definition of marriage after their Supreme Court approved it in June. This is the first time that voters have retroactively banned homosexual so-called "marriage" after it was legalized by four judges. What makes the feat all the more impressive is that it was done while California went overwhelmingly for Obama.

Marriage amendments were also approved in both Arizona and Florida. Arizona had a marriage amendment narrowly defeated two years ago, but a rewritten amendment was easily approved this year. In Florida, where state law requires constitutional amendments to receive more than 60 percent of the vote, the marriage amendment garnered 62 percent to win approval. And in Florida, as in California, the marriage amendment was approved despite Barack Obama winning the state's electoral votes.

What Same-Sex "Marriage" Has Done to Massachusetts?

Anyone who thinks that same-sex "marriage" is a benign eccentricity which won't affect the average person should consider what it has done in Massachusetts. It's become a hammer to force the acceptance and normalization of homosexuality on everyone. And this train is moving fast. What has happened so far is only the beginning.

On November 18, 2003, the Massachusetts Supreme Judicial Court announced its Goodridge opinion, ruling that it was unconstitutional not to allow same-sex "marriage." Six months later, homosexual marriages began to be performed.

IFI Update: Dinner with Ronald McDonald Tonight

AFA has further announced that "his seat on the board will not be replaced" and that McDonald's "has no plans to renew their membership in NGLCC."

    California Marriage Amendment Gains Support
    10/9/2008 7:20:00 AM
By David E. Smith, Executive Director -Illinois Family Institute

According to a recent SurveyUSA, the California marriage amendment is leading by a 47 percent to 42 percent margin. Though it is still below the 50 percent mark, which is historically dangerous for ballot questions, those in favor of the amendment are now higher than those opposed for the first time in the last four months. Supporters of natural marriage have recently begun airing their first statewide television ads, which could partially explain the up-tick in support for Proposal 8, as the amendment is known.

The new 30-second ad opens by showing San Francisco Mayor Gavin Newsom speaking after the ruling and saying about "gay marriage," "The door's wide open now. It's gonna happen -- whether you like it or not." The scene then shifts to a courtroom showing the justices of the California Supreme Court. A female narrator says, "Four judges ignored 4 million voters and imposed same-sex marriage on California. It's no longer about tolerance. Acceptance of gay marriage is now mandatory." The narrator is referencing Proposition 22, a state statute defining marriage in the traditional sense that garnered 4.6 million votes (61 percent) in 2000. The court declared that law to be unconstitutional earlier this year.

Same-Sex 'Marriage' and the Persecution of Civil Society

Advocates of same-sex "marriage" present the idea as a step forward for tolerance and respect. But recent developments place that interpretation very much in doubt.

Legalizing same-sex "marriage" is not a stand-alone policy, independent of all the other activities of the state. Once governments assert that same-sex unions are the equivalent of marriage, those governments must defend and enforce a whole host of other social changes.

Do Christian Spin Doctors Heal the "LGBTQ" Community?
    9/19/2008 8:17:00 AM
By Laurie Higgins, DSA Director -Illinois Family Institute

Despite the fact that I am neither a theologian nor a pastor, I'm going to make what I hope are not presumptuous observations about the way some individuals, church leaders, and non-profit organizations attempt to build bridges with the homosexual community. Many Christian "bridge-builders" are pursuing this noble effort by either concealing from their GLBTQ friends the true nature of their orthodox theological positions, or conversely by concealing from their orthodox Christian friends their non-traditional theological positions.

The goals of building bridges, cultivating community, and fostering relationships between the orthodox Christian community and the GLBTQ community, and spreading the Good News of Christ's work of redemption within that community are not only noble but critical goals. And certainly different people are called to approach these goals in different ways. But the methods or strategies employed must never sacrifice, obscure, or compromise truth.

Some of these bridge builders justify their obfuscation by claiming that it is not the role of the Christian community to "convict or judge." They argue, rightly in my view, that it is the Holy Spirit that convicts the heart of man, and God who judges. But the way they are using this correct theology muddies the waters by implying that if we state clearly that God defines homosexual behavior as sin, we are guilty of convicting and judging others. That is false. To answer direct questions with direct, clear answers on God's view of homosexuality does not constitute either convicting or judging. And it can lead to the very redemption bridge-builders profess to desire for the GLBTQ community.

    Gender Benders

    By Regis Nicoll -SalvoMag.com

In his book The Right Questions, Berkeley law professor Phillip Johnson tells the story of a college professor whose son announced one day that he was "transgendered." After noticing his parents' bewilderment, the son went on to explain that "it means I'm a girl. I want to wear dresses and makeup and challenge the whole patriarchal, bourgeois idea of gender." The son later revealed that he had gotten the idea from reading the literary works of Michael Foucault and Judith Butler.

Both Foucault and Butler were leading architects of "queer theory," a political and intellectual movement that rejects the notion that sexual identity is a genetic and biological fact of life. Rather, the theorists argue, one's sexual identity is a product of social and cultural influences. The binary view of gender, they maintain, is nothing but an artificial division imposed by the dominant patriarchy.

    Struggling Alone
    9/15/2008 1:11:00 PM
    By Ryan T. Anderson -FirstThings.com

He came out to me in an email. I've known him for years, long enough that I can't remember when we first met, and we were recently emailing back and forth about our lives, our futures-the kind of stuff separated friends discuss. Along the way he mentioned, in an aside, that he had some - lingering troubles he had to work his way through. My reply asked for an explanation-and that's when he told me.

Over the past three years, "Chris" (let's call him) has experienced a pronounced attraction to other males-for one old friend from high school in particular. A crush, maybe, or an infatuation. Whatever it was, he knew it wasn't healthy. And though he had never acted on the attraction, he explained, it led to fantasies and lusts he didn't want. So he made a resolution never to embrace them as essential to his identity or accept them as permanent or untreatable-a resolution he has kept practically alone, without the support of community, family, or friends. Over the course of many phone calls and emails, he shared with me his reflections on what he thought had created his problem of same-sex attractions. He described an "exceedingly close, best-friendly relationship" to his mother, often serving the role of her sole confidant, and a subsequent alienation from his father. Relationships with his friends, he thought, also contributed, as he suffered through "deeply hurtful rejection" by male peers, along with "oscillations between reverence for and fear of typically masculine" classmates. Once puberty hit, this took on sexual connotations, as Chris began experiencing "eroticized desire" for traits he found in other males that he himself lacked.

Religious Liberty Quashed by "Gay" Agenda

By David E. Smith, Executive Director -Illinois Family Institute

Freedom-loving Americans who want to preserve religious liberty must understand why it is so important to oppose every advance of the homosexual agenda. The most recent decision from the California Supreme Court clearly demonstrates how homosexual so-called "rights" are being used to quash individual religious liberty and rights of conscience once again.

Earlier this week, the California Supreme Court ordered physicians there to perform in-vitro fertilization for lesbian clients whether or not the procedure violates their most deeply held convictions and whether or not there are many other providers perfectly willing to step in and provide the same service.

It is important to understand that in-vitro fertilization is an elective medical procedure, and one done by other California doctors many of whom would be happy to accommodate the lesbian partners in their quest to become pregnant.

That's exactly what the formerly family-friendly McDonald's Corporation recently did. In an apparent effort to pierce the hyper-demanding good graces of the radical homosexual lobby, these clowns (pun intended) have thrown the vast majority of potential Mickey D's customers, worldwide, under the bus. Because of this colossal corporate blunder, the hamburger giant is now facing an embarrassing and ever-growing international boycott.

    Respecting Homosexuals
    7/30/2008 7:00:00 AM
By Thorin Anderson -Illinois Family Institute

Whenever there is conflict between homosexual activists and conservatives regarding the issues such as the acceptance of same sex marriage, we on the right are accused of a lack of respect for homosexuals.

But, I would like to make one thing clear. The debate is not about respecting people, but about accepting bad behavior. There are many human behaviors which we conservatives believe to be unacceptable. They range from lying and cheating to promiscuity before or during marriage. They include murder and rape and a host of other deeds, criminal or otherwise. To say that we don't respect someone when we disagree with their conduct is to suggest that confronting any bad behavior is inherently disrespectful. Are we to stop speaking about all wrong conduct? Should we stop confronting lying, stealing, or murder? Such a suggestion would be ludicrous.

    An Open Letter to McDonald's
    7/8/2008 9:30:00 PM
By Laurie Higgins -Illinois Family Institute

In a recent letter, "Global Chief Diversity Officer," Pat Harris, wrote that, "McDonald's is associated with countless local and national affinity groups here in the United States. We have a well-established and proud heritage of associating with individuals and organizations that share in the belief that every person has the right to live and work in their community free of discrimination."

What precisely does GCDO Harris mean by claiming that homosexuals have a right to live and work "free from discrimination"? Does he mean that they should be able to live and work without being harassed? If so, we're in complete agreement. No one should be harassed anywhere anytime.

Or, is he asserting that they have some sort of right to community approval of their sexual practices? If so, from where does that right derive? And is every group that is defined by anomalous sexual desires and practices owed that same right? Will McDonald's stand in unity with all these "affinity groups"? Will McDonald's cheerfully associate with the national affinity group NAMBLA?

This lack of enforcement, it could be argued, amounts to special protection for this group of citizens who are able to flaunt decency laws with impunity. (Doesn't our U.S. Constitution require "equal protection" under the law?)

Americans for Truth About Homosexuality President Peter LaBarbera today accused the Chicago public TV station WTTW, and by extension the Public Broadcasting System, of using taxpayer monies to celebrate homosexuality and worse, air programs that displays flagrant anti-religious bigotry during "Gay Pride Month."

"It is unconscionable that WTTW would show such blatant disregard for its faith- and tradition-minded viewers that it would use anti-Christian programs celebrating homosexuality for its fund-raising telethons," LaBarbera said. "Public television must be impartial on controversial moral issues. We call on WTTW and PBS to balance their pro-homosexual programming with faith-based educational material from the other side, or stop it altogether."

    Pro-Gay, Anti-Christianity

    By David R. Carlin -InsideCatholic.com

A learned friend of mine recently wrote an op-ed piece for a newspaper in which she argued that the drive for same-sex marriage is not simply about same-sex marriage; it is also about winning moral approval for homosexuality. If society, acting through the state, tells us that homosexuals can marry one another, then it is by the same token telling us that there is nothing morally objectionable about homosexual conduct.

My friend is, of course, correct. But I'll add to this that the drive for same-sex marriage is not simply about same-sex marriage or the moral legitimization of homosexual behavior; it is also about the de-legitimizing of Christian morality. More, it is about the de-legitimizing of Christianity itself.

Marriage -- Much More Than Legal Benefits
    5/31/2008 7:36:00 AM
By David Fowler, President of the Family Action Council of Tennessee -Tennessean.com

Debates are often won and lost based on how the key terms are defined. In the cultural war, the California Supreme Court just threw down the gauntlet with their recent redefinition of marriage. Advocates of real marriage need not fear, but they must understand how to respond.

Those who want to reduce marriage to the least common denominator want to appeal to our sympathies. So, they begin the debate by urging us to look at marriage as simply a status to which the law provides certain benefits. From there it is easy to play on our sense of "fairness" by arguing that its not fair for some to get those benefits and not others.

    Marriage Under Further Attack!

By David E. Smith, Executive Director -Illinois Family Institute

New York governor directs agencies to recognize other states' homosexual marriages.

Two weeks ago, four activist judges on the California State Supreme Court overturned the express will of the voters of California and declared homosexual "marriage" legal in that state.

Yesterday, New York's Governor, David A. Paterson, sidestepping that state's voters and their Legislature, directed all state agencies to revise their policies and regulations to recognize homosexual "marriages" performed in other states or countries.

Last year a bill that would have legalized homosexual "marriage" in New York failed to pass.

Paterson's directive makes New York the only state that does not allow homosexual "marriage" itself but recognizes homosexual unions entered into elsewhere. The directive will require revisions to an estimated 1,300 New York statutes and regulations.

Calif. Gay Marriage Ruling to Unleash Litigation
    5/22/2008 9:12:00 AM
By Pete Winn, Senior Staff Writer -CNSNews.com

The California Supreme Court's 4-3 decision last Thursday to create homosexual marriage was "a blockbuster" that sent a shockwave that will eventually reverberate in every state of the union, according to legal experts.

"One of the principal effects of the California decision will be to create large numbers of same-sex marriages that will not only reside in California, but will migrate across the country," said Douglas Kmiec, a law professor at Pepperdine University Law School in Malibu, Calif.

Kmiec, one of the nation's foremost legal scholars, told Cybercast News Service that the California court "tossed out the window" the view of marriage that predates the founding of the United States, predates the U.S. Constitution, and that was assumed by those who drafted California's constitution, as well as those who created civil rights law itself.

Excerpts from California Supreme Court Justice Marvin R. Baxter's Dissenting Opinion
    5/16/2008 7:57:00 AM
By Justice Marvin R. Baxter -California Judicial Branch

Only one other American state recognizes the right the majority announces today. So far, Congress, and virtually every court to consider the issue, has rejected it. Nothing in our Constitution, express or implicit, compels the majority's startling conclusion that the age-old understanding of marriage -an understanding recently confirmed by an initiative law - is no longer valid. California statutes already recognize same-sex unions and grant them all the substantive legal rights this state can bestow. If there is to be a further sea change in the social and legal understanding of marriage itself, that evolution should occur by similar democratic means. The majority forecloses this ordinary democratic process, and, in doing so, oversteps its authority....

Activist Judges in California Mandate Counterfeit Marriage
    5/15/2008 5:30:00 PM
By David E. Smith, Executive Director -Illinois Family Institute

As you may already know, the California State Supreme Court disregarded the will of its citizens yesterday when it legislated from the bench, obfuscating the very meaning and institution of marriage. This, despite the fact that California had clearly voted to preserve marriage in 2000 with the passage of Proposition 22 referendum.

Simply put, I find it outrageous that four Judges were able to overturn the will of 61 percent of the voters -- essentially 4.5 million California residents. Here we have liberal arrogance on display and at its best.

Moreover, a handful of judges should not be able to disregard thousands of years of human history and the evidence of social science that marriage between one man and one woman is best for society, families and children.

One of the main retailers targeted for boycott by HRC is Wal-Mart. HRC is encouraging homosexual supporters to shop at its rival, Target, because Wal-Mart has failed to offer domestic partner benefits. Therefore, you may want to make sure that you shop at Wal-Mart and avoid Target. Blood and Organ Donations, AIDS and Homosexual Behavior

It has been called a "troubling case." Four patients receiving organ transplants in Chicago area hospitals have contracted hepatitis and the AIDS virus from one donor, who was medically identified as a person who lived a "high risk" lifestyle.

What should be troubling to all of us is why a "high-risk" lifestyle (in this case homosexual behavior) is even allowed in the organ pool to begin with -- or at the very least, why aren't designated recipients told exactly what "high risk" behavior is involved?

Just this past summer, the federal Food and Drug Administration (FDA) reaffirmed their ban on homosexual male blood donations -- specifically because of the fact that homosexual men engage in behavior that puts them at a substantially higher risk to contract HIV or AIDS. Scientists and doctors at the FDA are fully aware of the deadly consequences of the "high risk" homosexual lifestyle.

Unfortunately, that basic assumption -- and all that flows from it -- isn't true. Because love isn't enough!

All else being equal, children do best in a home headed by a married mother and father. It's within this environment that children are most likely to be exposed to the emotional and psychological experiences they need in order to thrive.
