How far will Mayor Daley go in pandering to Chicago's homosexual lobby?

Peter LaBarbera, Executive Director of the Illinois Family Institute, issued the following statement after attending the Chicago "gay pride" parade on Sunday, June 27, 2004:

I witnessed two "gay pride" marchers associated with a sadistic sex contingent (their group was carrying a big "leather pride" flag) engage in a very disturbing and grotesque homosexual act within 10 feet of nearby police. The policemen were standing in front of a group of Christian counter-protesters, who were barricaded on the right side of the street. It happened Sunday, June 28, 2004, in the afternoon, towards the end of the "gay pride" parade, at the corner of Diversey and Pine Grove Avenues, near a White Hen Pantry store. There were children in the nearby vicinity, as there were throughout the parade route.

To spite the preaching Christians, a man got on his knees and buried his face in the exposed buttocks of another, standing marcher. The "recipient" was wearing chaps that left his rear exposed (common attire for gay "leathermen"). The crowd cheered as the two men engaged in this despicable act, known in homosexual slang as "rimming," for what seemed like a minute or longer.

I lost my composure and pleaded with a few policemen, asking them how they could allow this lewd act to be carried out in the street right in front of them. They did not answer, except one policeman who said, "They kept their clothes on." This comment is odd, since the particular clothes of the recipient allowed for the indecent act in the first place. Illinois law forbids public, lewd acts. I videotaped this indecent act for documentation purposes.

The officer in charge was an Off. Drasutis. (I checked on the Web and there is an Off. Joseph Drasutis who teaches a class on police supervision for Calumet College of St. Joseph.) He refused to answer when I asked him why he would allow a lewd sex act to be carried out publicly in the streets of Chicago.

It was a sad day indeed for the Chicago Police Department. Apparently homosexuals in Chicago have special rights and protections to violate Illinois law on their (shameful) day of "pride."
